How to fit a printing station into your reception
A live favor bar can lift a reception — but only if the timing, footprint, and flow are planned. Here's how to slot it in without stepping on the big moments.
Couples worry a printing station will feel like a booth crashing their elegant reception. It won't — if it's planned around the room and the run-of-show. Here's the practical guide we walk every couple through.
Time it to the natural lull
Every reception has downtime: the stretch after dinner service, before the dance floor fills. That's when the station opens. It gives restless guests something to do and quiets before the toasts and first dance. We coordinate directly with your planner and DJ so the station's active window sits between the key moments, not on top of them.
Plan the footprint
A single-method favor bar fits comfortably in about a 10x10 area — a couple of tables for the blanks and the press, plus room for a short line. Tuck it near the bar or the lounge where foot traffic already flows, and keep it away from the sightlines to the head table. If your venue is tight, tell us early and we'll design a slimmer layout.
Sort out power and access
- Power: presses need a dedicated outlet or two. Most venues are fine; some historic or outdoor sites aren't. Flag it early and we'll plan around limited power.
- Load-in: we need a simple path to bring gear in and set up before guests arrive. Share any stairs, elevators, or timing restrictions.
- Teardown: we break down cleanly and quietly, usually while the dance floor is going.
Style it to the room
The station should read as part of the décor. We use your colors on the blanks, keep signage minimal and elegant, and stage the table so it looks intentional in evening light. Done right, guests assume it was always meant to be there.
